Product Questions

We supply all Mocha models in 4 types of wood:

  • American oak (Quercus rubra)
  • European oak (Quercus robur)
  • European douglas (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
  • Norway spruce (Picea abries)

Everything is up to your taste and budget, but here is some information on the different types of wood to help you make an educated choice.

Both types of oak wood will age differently from Norway spruce over time if you do not add a post-treatment. European Douglas fir will also age differently from spruce and the two oaks.

These four wood species are all unique in their kind.

An oak outbuilding or carport will suit a rural home better. In a sleek modern home, a spruce or Douglas fir wood species can provide a less robust finish.

Due to their slow growth and higher specific weight, oak is more durable than the faster growing spruce and Douglas fir (two softwood species).

Prefabricated wooden buildings offer cost-effectiveness, faster construction timelines, and design versatility. They can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal and functionality of your project.

We do not offer any customization options, except for your choice of wood type. This way we can keep our production process simple and our prices low.

However, you can let your imagination go wild and customize your Mocha just the way you like it. Good luck, and don’t forget to show us the result!

Yes, our wooden buildings are crafted from sustainably sourced materials. We prioritize environmentally responsible practices throughout the manufacturing process.

The type of wood helps determine the price and durability class of the building.

Your choice of wood assumes that your building will be protected by the roofing and cladding you will be using.

Once that is in place, your structure is protected from all outside weather.

  • Sun
  • Rain
  • Snow
  • Wind

Weather elements have a negative impact on wood when exposed to them. Once the structure is encased with its finish, the influence of the weather elements on the underlying structure also stops.

The choice of wood species will not affect the life of your building once it is finished. It’sq all up to your taste and budget.

Here you will find their durability class per species :

  • American oak (Quercus rubra): Durability class 2
  • European oak (Quercus robur): Durability class 2
  • European Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii): Durability class 3
  • Norway spruce (Picea abries): Durability class 3

Due to their slow growth and higher specific weight, oak is more durable than the faster growing spruce and Douglas fir (two softwood species).

European standard EN 350.2 specifies the durability class classification and insect resistance of most wood species used in Europe.

Wood species are conventionally classified into five durability classes. These only express resistance to fungi or wood rot, not to insects. The classification relies on a simple test: a 50×50 mm post is partially inserted into the ground. The longer the life of the heartwood in this aggressive environment, the more durable the wood. Belgium uses the following durability classes:

  • durability class 1: very durable (more than 25 years*);
  • durability class 2: durable (15 to 25 years*);
  • durability class 3: moderately durable (10 to 15 years*);
  • durability class 4: poorly durable (5 to 10 years*);
  • durability class 5: not durable (less 5 years*);

Our range consists of 25 models that we have in stock in 4 types of wood.

We deliver these to you within 10 days after payment.

Delivery & Assembly Questions

Our products are delivered as kits including assembly plans.

On the ground plan you will find the points where the poles should be placed.

Please respect and execute these preparations with care.

For the assembly you will have to take into account the weight of the specific type of wood which will also determine how many people you need to assemble the structure.

  • American oak (Quercus rubra): approximately 710 kg per m3
  • European oak (Quercus robur): approximately 680 kg per m3
  • European Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii): approximately 610 kg per m3
  • Norway spruce (Epecia abries): approximately 460 kg per m3

First of all: play safe and provide enough manpower to make the assembly go smoothly.

  • American oak ( Quercus rubra): 4 persons
  • European oak (Quercus robur): 4 persons
  • European Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii): 2 to 3 persons
  • Norway spruce (Epecia abries): 2 persons

If you are not sure, use a forklift or mobile crane.

Take into account that on average you should count two days for a building of 2 to 3 m3 once the structure is close to the assembly site.

For a building that is 4 to 5 m3 count 3 to 4 days, because these buildings are taller and the pieces are heavier to manipulate.

We recommend to assemble the building within two weeks after delivery.

Wood is a living matter. Even when processed, the wood will adapt to the environment.

Over time, shrinkage cracks may appear. This is normal because wood always works because of change in humidity, sun, and wind causing shrinkage or expansion.

No!

The building is sealed when it arrives. Leave the package closed until you assemble it, do not open it to take a quick look. Unsealing it too early and not assembling it immediately could deform the wood before you have a chance to assemble it.

There are support blocks provided per package that are sealed and left under the package until assembly. Between the different beams you will find thin wooden spools that allow air circulation between all parts of the package.

No, the structure is delivered without fixing materials (nails, screws, wooden pegs, …)

The building is delivered, wrapped in a protective film that protects the package from dust. However, the packaging is never completely waterproof, so it is best not to place it in the rain for a long time without extra protection.

If you want to keep the building for a longer period of time due to unforeseen circumstances, place it under an open shelter with air circulation. If this is not possible, place it inside an aerated, non-damp room.

We work with external carriers; a parcel service and for pallet transport a freight company.

For pallet transport, your order will be delivered by truck. The size of this truck depends on the quantity that our carrier has to deliver on his route that day. Therefore, if you order a relatively small order, an 18-meter truck may still come. Therefore, it is important that your street or neighborhood is always easily accessible for these large trucks. If you have any doubts or questions about this, please contact us.

If the delivery address is located in a “zero emission zone” we urgently request that you notify us in advance so that we can find a timely solution.

You will always be informed at least 1 working day before delivery on which day the delivery will take place. Please be available by phone on the day of delivery for any questions the driver may have.
